Eight years ago, I sat down with my infant daughter in one hand and a pen in the other, and wrote a note designed to be read by my three children when they were old enough to become parents. That barely-decipherable scribble became a book full of notes about pregnancy and parenting. Eventually, those notes became a manuscript. Over the past few years, I had explored the traditional routes of self-publishing, but the results—including my Big List of Things That Suck—fell short of what I wanted to do graphically. My goal was to create a short-and-sweet pregnancy book that covered the basics. I wanted it to feel friendly—not textbook. And I wanted people to be able to read it online–for free—before deciding if they wanted to buy a physical copy.
